Now available to order: impressive cottage nameplates, number signs and other signs from Vesa Kaulanen at Ylläksen Yöpuu. Plates are available in all sizes and models, from room number to company advertisement. Signs are made of rough sawn board or plank, pine plank, arctic pine or its branches, glue board etc.
Almost any kind of font can be used: you can send the text written in the font you like by e-mail and Vesa will transfer it on the wood. The most common text size is 100 mm (10 cm), which can be seen easily. The text size determines also the size of the sign, there has to be “air”, i.e. free space around the text.
The text is carved in the wood, and the letters are painted. The most common colour for the text is black, but you can choose the colour you like. The minimum letter size is 30 mm (3 cm), there is no limit to the maximum size. Texts that are smaller than 30 mm are made with a wood burning pen, please note however that such signs are not suitable for outdoor use, because sunshine fades the burned text rapidly.
Signs are treated with wood oil or shiny woodstain that not only protects but also brings out the colour, fibers and branches of the wood. You can order painted signs as well. Signs made of planks are also available with frame ornaments.
The sign lasts for several years, depending on the location it can last a very long time. If the sign is exposed to sunshine or rain, the product life decreases The sign gets darker over time, but it is possible to smooth it, or plane and protect it again.
Vesa can install the sign in the desired place as and when required.
